Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the peak of the festive singles chart. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in the autumn. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The impressive roster of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a group of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the benefit event, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The song blends a fusion of the heritage language with new English lyrics.
The group managing the project have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative explained. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all raising awareness for this issue and proving there’s another side to the story.”
The track is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from mid-December.
