Former US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers is leaving the governing body at the ChatGPT creator, just days after a series of electronic messages between him and deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein became publicly available.

He stated in an announcement that he was "thankful for the chance to have served, enthusiastic about the prospects of the organization, and anticipate following their advancement".

Summers, who formerly presided over the Ivy League institution, stated on Monday that he would be withdrawing from public roles due to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein.

The newly public messages revealed that Summers corresponded with the financier until the 24 hours preceding his 2019 apprehension for suspected human trafficking of minors.

In additional comments, the AI firm said it respected his choice to depart.

This announcement arrives after both chambers of the US legislature agreed on recently to endorse a bill that would compel the federal prosecutors to disclose its files on the case.
