Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
